If you think Wellsboro is an exciting place to be over the summer, just wait for the autumn activities to begin. Marsha Chesko, Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce president, spoke to WHP about the highlights of the Sept.-Oct. calendar. She highly recommends visitors continue to take advantage of the temperate weather on the Tyoga Country Club golf course, as well as their swimming pool. And while you’re there, enjoy their popular Tyoga Bar & Grille.

If golf doesn’t strike your fancy, other regional outdoor activities including biking, hiking, horseback, or if you’re interested in a real treat, covered wagon rides. Any fresh air exposure also offers the outdoorsman (or woman) scenery enhanced by stunning fall foliage. Chesko further advises, “If you’re going to be coming and visiting the area, we ask that you please book now because lodging facilities do get busy.”

Wellsboro also offers local theatre and music. Hamilton-Gibson is producing Steel Magnolias this September, at the following dates and times:

Sept. 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:30pm
Sept. 13 (Sunday) at 2:30pm

Their Autumn Chorale will take place on October 11th at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Arcadia Theatre is presenting Into the Woods on September 18th, 19th, and 20th. Additionally, the Deane Center will host a Canyon Blues Breakdown on September 19th, and the Wellsboro Community Concert Season begins October 10th with the Dali Quartet at the Deane Center.

Other September events include the Chamber Golf Tournament Fundraiser on the 25th. Proceedings of the fundraiser go toward community enhancements; there is still room for more teams, so please sign up! Moving into October, Wellsboro will conclude its First Friday season on October 2nd. We hope to see you there. Additionally, the Tyoga Running Club’s fourth annual Green Monster Trail Challenge will be held on October 11th; interested parties should contact the club for registration details. Finally, enjoy Wellsboro’s Community Yard Sale October 16th and 17th. There are community treasures waiting for all.
