Celebrate Winter in Wellsboro

It’s always a delightful time to visit Wellsboro, PA, and this time for a wonderful winter weekend of fun! It all starts Thursday, February 16th at 7:30 PM, with the Endless Mountains Music Festival’s presentation of Gabe Stillman and the Billtown Giants Concert at 7:30 PM at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts Coolidge Theatre at 100 Main Street. You’re invited to bring your drinks and snacks. Tickets are available by either calling 570-724-6220 or contacting www.deanecenter.com.

Then Friday, February 17th, several events occur to entice the most curious from young to old. At 7:00 PM at the Deane Center is Wine 101, an interactive event where participants learn how to determine what wines are perfect compliments for that special meal. The cost of this event is $25.00. At 7:30 PM, the Endless Mountains Music Festival presents Rhythms Alive Concert with EMMF Musicians at the Deane Center Coolidge Theatre. Again, you are welcome to bring your drinks and snacks. The Cost for the event is $25.00. For reservations, call 570-724-6220 or visit www.deanecenter.com.

Also at 7:30 PM, Hamilton Gibson Productions performs The Actual Dance, a life-affirming One-Man Play written and performed by Samuel A. Simon, in the Deane Center Warehouse Theatre at 3 Central Avenue. Tickets are $18.00 for adults and $7.00 for students. For tickets call 570-724-2079 or www.hamiltongibson.org.

Saturday, February 18th, offers an event for everyone at 10:30 AM; the Deane Little Beans Winter Celebration, free for all! It will be held at the Deane Center Coolidge Theatre. 570-724-6910 or info@thefirthseason.biz.

Excitement abounds Saturday, February 18th with the Waste Management Winter RallySprint! At Noon the entrance vehicles, drivers, and teams with be at the Parc Exposé’s display on the Green. Immediately following, the cars leave for the race which will take place in Antrim on Waste management’s grueling gravel roads. For more information, contact www.wmwr.info.

From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM is the Chili with a Chance of Chocolate Taste-Off at many of Wellsboro’s downtown businesses. Tickets are available at the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce, 114 Main Street. Call (570) 724-1926. All proceeds benefit the Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries.

From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM is the Winter Brew Tasting. It is free! Sample Winter Beers and Enjoy refreshments at the Fifth Season, 100 Main Street.

Also from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Wood Chainsaw Carving by Gary Hilfiger and Face & Decorative Painting by Bonnie Bell Hilfiger will be on the Deane Center Lawn.

Pony Rides from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM will take place in the Sherwin-Williams parking lot, benefitting the Wellsboro Riding Club.

Almost all day, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, there will be two different individuals doing Ice Carvings at various points on Main Street, as well as a demonstration of Wood Carving. Further, local vendors will be displaying their wares on Main Street.

From Noon to 3:00 PM, The Great Snowball Hunt occurs where local vendors will be hiding 101 snowballs, all with prizes, and ONE will have a prize of $101.00! Presented by KC101 and The Fifth Season.

Enjoy hot chocolate while decorating cookies, a free event, taking place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall on Walnut Street.

On Saturday, February 18th, from Noon to 3:00 PM, there will be a free Cross-Country Ski &Mini-Clinic for Beginners, as well as snow golf and Tubing. All equipment is provided and will be at the Green.

At 7:30PM, the Endless Mountains Music Festival proudly presents Bram Wijnands & Friends Concert at the Penn Wells Hotel, 62 Main Street. Call 570-724-7800 or visit www.endlessmountains.net. Pre-show dinners are from 5:00 PM to 7:15 PM. The meal is $25.00 and reservations are highly encouraged. Call the Penn Wells Hotel at 570-724-2111.

Also at 7:30 PM, Hamilton-Gibson Productions once again presents The Actual Dance, at the Deane Center Warehouse Theatre. Call 570-724-2079 or visit www.hamiltongibson.org for tickets.

Finishing the event on Sunday, February 19th starts out with the MT. Tom Challenge, with a vertical climb of 1,100 feet to Mt. Tom’s summit. Registration begins at 8:30 AM at the Darling Run Parking Lot. Contact www.MtTomChallenge.com for more information.

From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM is the Family Jazz Brunch with Bram Wijnands during the Penn Wells Hotel’s Sunday Brunch. Reservations are highly recommended. Call 570-724-2111.

It all wraps up at 2:30PM with Hamilton-Gibson’s production of The Actual Dance. This event is open to the public and only asks for a donation to enjoy!
