UPDATE: We’ve received word that this is the County Maintenance Garage located off of Shumway Hill Road. Second update: a member of the Mansfield Hose Company was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At 3:15 this afternoon a structure fire was called in, located off Shumway Hill Road in Wellsboro. Fire fighters from Wellsboro were the first on scene, shortly followed by both Mansfield and Middlebury Fire Departments. Upon Home Page’s arrival on scene, the county maintenance building beside NYPUM was fully engulfed in flames with both roof and side destroyed. One passenger van and one maintenance vehicle were also destroyed. According to Assistant Fire Chief Bob McCarthy, no determination of what started this fire has been found. We ask for your prayers for all the firefighters. More details to follow as they come.
