Ashley Johns Update!

by John Vogt - February 7, 2014

Ashley Johns Update: On February 1, 16-year-old Ashley Johns was involved in a one-car crash outside Wellsboro, Pa. She suffered several skull fractures and is still in the ICU an hour away from her home. We had the opportunity to speak with Ashley’s Mom, Kim Johns late last night and received an update on her condition. At this time Ashley is still on a respirator. However, Ashley’s doctors are now saying that there is hope for Ashley. Her medical team says that it will be a slow recovery with many months of medical procedures, healing and rehabilitation. But, there was good news last night. Ashley’s Mom told us that the swelling has gone down on her face and that her blood pressure is stable. Ashley is also able to hear commands and respond to them – squeezing hands and wiggling toes.

The entire John’s family wants to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of prayers and support – especially the many HS students who have been relentless in showing their love and concern for Ashley and her family. I asked Kim if there was anything that we could do specifically to help at this time and she responded by asking for specific pray for Ashley’s complete healing, and that God would protect her intelligence and wonderful personality. Thanks to everyone who has helped support the Help Ashley Heal fund! So far the effort has raised over $7,000!
