Encouraging our community nursing home residents can be as simple as sending a Christmas card! And, of course, they love visits from those of us who live in the area. Morgan Koziar spoke with Wellsboro Shared Home Administrator, Barbara Cleveland and Assistant Administrator Whitney Sunday about the needs of their residents. Families are encouraged to come and bring their children (and pets, if you would like.) Cookies are always welcome, but please no nuts – (sugar and chocolate chip are are favored, just in case of nut allergies.) Many of those who reside in the nursing homes have families that live far away, so visits and cards during the Christmas season are really welcomed. Having our children make cards is a wonderful way to let them know that we are thinking about them. As Barb said, “ You do not stop having Christmas after a certain age.”

Morgan also had the opportunity to speak with a few of the residents about some of their Christmas memories.

Cards can be addressed to the Wellsboro Shared Home at 27 Bacon Street. You can address a card specifically to an individual, or they will gladly share it with everyone. For more information or questions you can reach Whitney or Barb at 570-724-2300.

At the Carleton Nursing Home you can contact their Activities Director, Katy Kriner about their needs and how you can be a part of helping them to do their best for their residents.
